What is a micro-school?
The concept of micro-schooling has been around for years and is rooted in providing a personalized approach to education. Micro-schools are often established by parents and educators who recognize a need for more individualized learning or a gap in educational services within their community. Alectrix Preparatory was created with this mission in mind: to offer a customized, inquiry-based education that nurtures the unique needs of every student while fostering academic, social, and emotional growth.
How much is tuition?
Tuition can be paid in 10 or 11 installments, or as a lump sum. Please see the Tuition and Fees section for details.
What subjects will my child participate in?
All students will take part in language arts, math, science, and social studies. They will participate in Focus (one-on-one learning) at least once a week. They will also engage in enrichment activities such as robotics, engineering, art, and music.
What is the focus program?
Our focus program is a one-on-one initiative that each student attends twice weekly. During focus sessions, students work on skills identified collaboratively by Alectrix Preparatory and their families.
What is Project Fridays/Exploration Fridays?
Project Fridays are designed for our Explorers (3-5), Scholars (6-8), and Leaders (9-10) groups. Students in these groups will work on collaborative projects to deepen their understanding of current learning objectives. Exploration Fridays are tailored for our K-1 group, where students engage in collaborative, project-based activities.
How does Alectrix Preparatory differ from other private schools in the area?
Alectrix Preparatory provides a personalized educational setting tailored to your child’s needs. Our small academic groups ensure individualized guidance. Each day, students have time to play, explore, and learn in a flexible environment, free from the constraints of four walls and a rigid curriculum. We encourage choice and independent learning, fostering the development of essential executive functioning skills.”
Is Alectrix Preparatory accredited?
Alectrix Preparatory is in the final stages of accreditation with Cognia. Our application is set to be reviewed by the Committee at the end of March.
Are tutors employees of Alectrix Preparatory?
No, all tutors at Alectrix Preparatory are 1099 independent contractors, not employees. However, we take great care in selecting our tutors to ensure they align with our values and educational approach.
Each tutor is carefully chosen based on their experience, expertise, and commitment to student success. They share a passion for working with students and are dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality instruction.
In addition, every tutor also undergoes a background check to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
