Meet the Team
Raymond “RJ” Collins JR
Founder
After graduating from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, I began working as a teacher’s assistant and tutor. Eventually, I landed roles as a content teacher and special education teacher. After finding my passion working with students with processing challenges, I founded Alectrix Preparatory to help students thrive. My passion for supporting learners grew from my experience at a small school in Northern California focused on their needs. However, my passion for education started long before that – inspired by my mom’s 20 year career.
From working closely with students of diverse backgrounds, I firmly believe all students can succeed when provided the right foundational skills and support. That belief led me to create Alectrix Preparatory. To further my ability to support student well-being and learning, I am currently pursuing my M.Ed. online at the University of Missouri, specializing in educational psychology.
Outside of education, I enjoy sports, especially basketball and baseball which I played in college at the University of Puget Sound. I like to spend free time reading mystery and thriller novels, playing with my dog, or engaging in various sports.

Director of Operations
With more than twenty years in the field of education, I’ve had the privilege to interact with students from preschool to 8th grade in diverse roles such as a teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, and Principal. My philosophy is anchored in the understanding that education is a dynamic, multi-sensory process that integrates cognitive, emotional, and physical learning. I primarily adhere to the Constructivist approach, with a significant focus on experiential learning. To me, true teaching lies in enabling students to evolve into lifelong, self-reliant learners.
My educational philosophy is built around the principle that children thrive in an environment where they feel safe, cherished, respected, content, and empowered. They ought to be involved participants in their educational journey. Acknowledging each child’s unique characteristics, it’s important that they are treated sensitively according to their individual needs. My goal is to provide children with five fundamental needs: respect, value, acceptance, inclusion, and security. Meeting these needs aids children in building confidence, which inherently makes them more effective learners.
Furthermore, I believe that collaboration between educators and families is crucial, given the significant role a family plays in a child’s life. I am confident that Alectrix Preparatory offers a top-tier program that encourages students to become inventive, informed, enthusiastic, and joyous learners, as well as global citizens.
My educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Boston College and a Certification in Early Childhood Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
In my spare time, I enjoy immersing myself in music and exploring the outdoors. When I’m not engrossed in educational endeavors or indulging in a hike, I cherish spending quality time with my family.
